Everyone's going to Kyoto these days.

Blame the iconic temples and shrines, endlessly fascinating streets and top-notch food.

You might consider visiting for any of those reasons.

But here's a new one: Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto, which just debuted in the historic Higashiyama Ward of Kyoto. It's the brand's first foray into the city, and the property features 52 guestrooms, the signature Banyan Tree Spa, kaiseki dinners and a sake bar.

You can't beat the location. The hotel is situated among a bamboo forest and near top attractions like Kodai-ji Temple and Kiyomizu-dera Temple, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The hotel's 52 guestrooms feature local materials, including large cypress wood bathtubs, tatami mats, natural wood elements and gold leaf accents. There are also eight Onsen Retreat rooms with private natural onsens.

They further take advantage of that hot spring source by offering an indoor-outdoor onsen facility for guests to partake in the ancient Japanese custom. The Banyan Tree Spa has six treatment rooms with hot spring-fed tubs, a sauna, steam room and relaxation area, and there's a menu of treatments exclusive to the Kuyoto property, like a bamboo massage.

Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto is the only hotel in Kyoto with a traditional Noh stage. Nohgaku is a Japanese performing art featuring supernatural themes such as ghosts and gods that has been performed continuously since the 14th century. The outdoor stage will serve as a venue for traditional Nohgaku, contemporary art performances and musical events.

It's still on you to start the wave.
