Amsterdam is a vibrant city full of history, canals, culture and a culinary scene that keeps getting better.
We're not here to talk about any of that.
We're too distracted by this hotel with a 737 airplane parked inside.
The 737 Suite is located at Corendon Amsterdam New-West hotel, a Tribute Portfolio property just outside of Amsterdam's city center. In many ways, it's simply a nice hotel suite, with a king-size bed, modern amenities and nearly 1,300 square feet of space.
But in one very notable way, it's different from anywhere else you've stayed. Yes, we're referring to that 737 aircraft again.
The suite is located on the seventh floor of the hotel. Room 737, naturally. Step into the room and you'll see the plane — seriously, you can't miss it. Head for the fuselage to find several rows of seats, complete with tray tables and arm rests. There are standard windows and overhead bins and even a couple food and drink trolleys. But the real star of this show is the cockpit.
The latter is not a simulator, but it is a real cockpit, so you can sit inside, play around with the controls and pretend you're flying. The airplane nose extends a few feet outside the hotel walls, and the cockpit window looks out outside, so you'll feel like you're piloting the plane in the air.
When you're not occupied by 737 things, you can spread out on the couches and chairs in the suite's living area, use the kitchen, avail yourself of the non-airplane bathroom, or sleep on the bed rather than upright in an economy seat.
And when you're hungry, the hotel has a restaurant, a bar and room service, so you don't have to eat airplane food or drink whiskey out of a plastic cup.
