A lot of things happened in 2017, but the one most relevant to this story is the closing of Peter Island Resort.
Before you shed a tear or pour out some rum, we bring good news.
Peter Island Resort is back and better than ever. The fully reimagined property is taking bookings now and opens its doors December 1, operating at a new level of luxury across its guest rooms, restaurants and spa. That's your cue to cash in some PTO and head for the beach.
Your best bet for accessing the island is to fly into St. Thomas (USVI) or Tortola (BVI), then take a short ferry ride, water taxi or helicopter to complete your journey.
Throughout this transformation, priority was placed on preserving the 52-room resort’s intimate, casual elegance, warm Caribbean hospitality and hundreds of acres of unspoiled tropical island. But they still found plenty to do, so now you can experience stunning new beachfront rooms and suites, two redesigned villas, an extensive Yacht Club, two restaurants and a 10,000-square-foot seaside spa.
When you've worked up an appetite from all that sun and sand, head to The Drake Steakhouse for top-notch surf and turf and an extensive wine collection. When you want a more casual evening, there's the Drunken Pelican, a restaurant and bar at the Yacht Club that's also home to a swimming pool, lawn games, bocce ball and pickleball courts.
The Spa is a tranquil, seaside retreat nestled alongside Big Reef Bay. It's got all the wellness options you want, with seven treatment rooms, a fitness center, yoga and meditation sanctuary, salon, outdoor pool and ocean-front hot tub. There, the team of therapists pamper guests with personalized treatments using an organic "farm-to-healing" product line and freshly harvested island ingredients.
