One must be wary when trekking in a harsh desert environment.

Your mind is liable to deceive you.

Except, in this case, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you.

That really is an oasis-like resort perched in the desert. And it's ready for your next luxury getaway.

Spanning over 600 acres, Black Desert Resort is set amongst ancient lava fields and vermilion cliffs just outside St. George, Utah, at the gateway of Greater Zion. It's in preview mode now and will be completed early next year. That's good news for visitors, as the property is offering promo rates starting at $199 per night through March 31.

Once complete, the resort will feature nearly 800 rooms and suites. There's a slate of diverse dining options, a world-class spa, and plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities.

Black Desert Resort is already home to one of the best regarded new golf courses in the country. The 19-hole, Tom Weiskopf-designed course is set against a backdrop of red rocks, black lava rock and mountains, and it just hosted the PGA Tour's Black Desert Championship. So it'll be plenty nice for your beer-fueled scramble with friends. And when your round's over, you can adjourn to the 20th Hole sports bar overlooking the course.

There's also the Yard, which sports a 36-hole putting green, a massive screen for movies, hot tubs, fire pits, and a stage for live music. So there's always something to do, even if you don't want to spend your days golfing.

Across the property, you'll find five restaurants, a coffee lounge and a bar. Basalt is the signature fine-dining restaurant, serving up steaks and seafood. Latitude serves three meals per day, with breakfast favorites moving into American comfort classics as the day progresses. And Club 73 is where you'll go for burgers, tacos, milkshakes and other casual fare.

Black Desert Resort is also housing a 15,000-square-foot spa and wellness center offering massages and other treatments. With everything happening on site, you never have to leave the cozy confines of the property. But you will be situated in the heart of the Greater Zion area, so you're just a short drive away from two of America’s most stunning national parks. Might as well go check them out.

Even within the 600 acre property there's diverse terrain, from sandstone cliffs to petrified dunes, and a vast desert ecosystem. All that is perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and otherwise engaging with your surroundings. It's the perfect opportunity to reacquaint yourself with nature.

You know, all that stuff that lives outside your phone.
