An African safari sits atop many a traveler's bucket list.

The best safaris include fully outfitted game drives to view majestic creatures in their natural habitats, and luxury safari tents where participants can relax, enjoy local wines, and feast on chef-cooked food.

That's good living. The only problem is that booking a safari can be exorbitantly expensive. And many of the experiences are multiple days, which might be overkill for the average visitor who just wants to spot a few animals in the wild.

Hence: Uber Safari, the newly launched service that's bookable in Cape Town to whisk riders away for a day trip at Aquila Private Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s most popular wildlife conservancies.

It's part of the brand's "Go Anywhere" series of limited-time experiences. All you need is the Uber app, and the safari feature will be visible anytime you access it in South Africa. The service is available Fridays and Saturdays through January 2025. It's bookable between 24 hours and 90 days in advance, accommodates up to four guests, and costs a flat fee of just $200.

When the time comes, you'll be picked up in Cape Town in an Uber Safari-branded vehicle, which will take you out of the city and into the game reserve. Upon arrival, you'll receive a welcome toast and lunch before boarding a traditional safari vehicle led by experienced game rangers and field guides tasked with introducing you to the big five: lions, elephants, buffalos, cheetahs and rhinos. Uber Safari will then drive you back to your hotel that same night.

All in, it's the easiest way to go on safari.

You still have to get yourself to Africa, of course. There's not yet an Uber for that.
