Greenland is the largest island on the planet but only has a population of 56,000 inhabitants, making it one of the most sparsely populated places on Earth.

That's just a fun fact to share with people you meet aboard the MV Vikingfjord, your luxurious floating home for this 10-day journey through the Arctic.

It's all happening via East Greenland Explorer Fly & Cruise, a new itinerary from Secret Atlas that's taking small groups to explore Greenland's stunning fjord systems, towering icebergs, elusive wildlife and remote communities. Bookings are available now and run into October.

Start your trip with a hotel stay in Reykjavik, then take a private charter flight to Scoresby Sound — a large fjord system on the Greenland Sea — to meet your boat.

The ship accommodates just 12 guests, so it'll be an intimate group. The rugged expedition vessel was updated last year and features comfortable cabins and modern bathrooms, a dining area, and a hot tub and sauna for post-expedition recovery.

Over the next week, you'll sail among glaciers, navigate smaller waterways on zodiacs and hike along scenic stretches of land. You'll also visit the remote settlement of Ittoqqortoormiit, one of Greenland’s most remote villages, and have chances to witness the Northern Lights before heading back to Reykjavik.

And all the time, you'll have access to good meals and drinks on board the MV Vikingfjord. Because nothing gets your appetite going like watching for icebergs.
