Your Anti-Spring-Break Spring Break on the French Riviera

It Mostly Involves Playing Pétanque, Drinking Wine and Looking at the Sea

For those of you who opted out of the whole Daytona/Panama City Beach spring break thing this year... two quick thoughts:

1) Good move—you’ve consumed more than enough gross, if brightly colored, liquor in your day.

2) We’ve decided you deserve a tranquil vacation on the French Riviera instead.

That second, remarkably nice idea comes courtesy of Hôtel Les Roches Rouges, a bastion of classic Riviera luxury on a quiet stretch of the Provence coast between Saint-Tropez and Cannes. It’s taking reservations now for a May 4 opening.

Have a look at this slideshow. Then, allow yourself to daydream about...

Arriving to your modernist suite—detailed in a serene minimalism of aged oak, concrete and a few pieces of tasteful artwork thrown casually about—then stepping onto your private balcony to see the Mediterranean Sea roiling below.

Taking afternoon dips in the natural seawater pool, cut directly into the coastal rock, before strolling through the hotel’s authentic Mediterranean-style garden.

Eating the local fishermen’s daily catch and Provençal bouillabaisse on a rooftop terrace.

Drinking chilled wine while enjoying a film at their open-air cinema.

Waking up with the sun for meditation, outdoor yoga and pétanque.

Finally checking your phone, only to find there’s been a critical development in the federal investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.

You just had to check your phone.
