Things to do for November 14, 2013

The Weekender

Tacos for Breakfast, Whiskey for Dinner and Sinatra for Sundays

The days grow shorter, the weekend grows longer.

Thursday
A Whiskey-and-Hats Kind of Night
SUPER GOORIN BROS.

A Whiskey-and-Hats Kind of Night

Most days, you walk into the Harvard Square Goorin Bros. and see hats. But some days, you walk in and see whiskey, Japanese-textile shirts from Osmium, trunk show discounts... and hats. Guess which kind of day this is.

Nov 14, 5-8pm, Goorin Bros., 43 Brattle St, Cambridge, 617-868-4287

SOMETHING IN THE WATER

Where to Get Hot-Dog-and-Beer Pizza

The Proper Slice on Newbury is dead. Yep. But like a pizza phoenix, it’s risen again as the Dirty Water Dough Co. And it brought with it things like a pizza topped with Fenway Franks and dough made from a specially brewed IPA. So its A-game.

Friday
This Place Has Whisky in Its Name
FALL OF SAIGON

This Place Has Whisky in Its Name

Whisky Saigon: a new nightclub opening in what was once the Gypsy Bar. Whisky: a brown liquor you will be consuming at its pre-opening party with attractive brunette people. Saigon: the capital of South Vietnam. Saigon is the wild card here.

Nov 15, 9pm-2am; no cost before midnight, $15 after; Whisky Saigon, 116 Boylston St, 617-482-7799, RSVP here

Saturday
Hope You’re a Morning-Taco Person
TEXAS TOAST

Hope You’re a Morning-Taco Person

Whatever your plans for Saturday morning are, don’t change them. Not even if someone offers you 9am tacos. Not even if they’re bacon-egg-and-cheese breakfast tacos. Served from a pop-up in Union Square that only exists for three hours. Okay, change them.

Nov 16, 9am-noon (or until tacos sell out), Texas Breakfast, 201 Somerville Ave, Somerville

Sunday
Eggplant Parm and Sinatra in Back Bay
SEEING RED SAUCE

Eggplant Parm and Sinatra in Back Bay

The Salty Pig. Monday through Saturday, it’s a thoroughly modern haven of charcuterie and cheese. But on Sundays, it transforms into an old-school Italian joint. The kind with red-checkered tablecloths, eggplant parmesan and a Sinatra soundtrack. If only they had some nonna walking around pinching cheeks.
