The Weekender

Eating Kahuna Burgers in Southie, a Huge Sale at Ball and Buck, and More

The search is over. The weekend was right before your eyes.

Thursday
Now Open: Tasty Burger Southie
SO TASTY

Now Open: Tasty Burger Southie

For Southie-ers, there’s been one problem with Tasty Burger since it opened: to land their Pulp Fiction–inspired Kahuna Burger, you had to go to Fenway. No more, now that they’ve just opened a takeout garrison on L Street. Those Carson Beach walks just got way more awesome.

HOT LUNCH

The Theatre District’s New Lunch Go-To

Ever since Sip Wine Bar opened in the Theatre District, you’ve said two things: “Mmm... wine” and “I wish they were open for lunch.” And just like that, now they are. Which means it’s now possible to get midday miso-glazed salmon and mushroom flatbreads. Mushrooms = fiery conference calls.

Friday
Up to 70% Off at Ball and Buck
SALE-ING

Up to 70% Off at Ball and Buck

This is historic: Ball and Buck is holding their first massive sale and slashing 30% to 70% off everything in store, from denim to long underwear. The reason: they’re closing the North End locale and full-timing it in the Back Bay. Try not to cry at the checkout counter.

Saturday
Tasting Over 170 Whiskies
MASS MALT-ING

Tasting Over 170 Whiskies

A good Saturday: sampling a few glasses of your favorite whisky. A better Saturday: sampling over 170 of them at Whisky Live, the UK/Japanese event gracing Boston for the first time. There’ll be big guys like Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, some smaller American cousins and even live Scottish music. Kilts optional.

Sep 22, 6:30-10pm (VIP 5pm), $109-$139, The Sheraton Hotel, 39 Dalton St, 617-236-2000, tickets here

Monday
Dinner and a Movie. And a Castle.
IN THE LOOP

Dinner and a Movie. And a Castle.

So here’s the deal: you’ll go to this out-of-sequence four-course dinner at Alden Castle, the first public event ever held there. Then the following Thursday, you’ll go see the new time-travel movie Looper on Boston Common. Think of it as dinner and a movie. Over four days. With Bruce Willis.

De-Monday-ing with Bourbon and BBQ
BRIX-HOUSE

De-Monday-ing with Bourbon and BBQ

Also on Monday: there’s a five-course bourbon and BBQ dinner happening at Brix Wine Shop, featuring five Hudson Whiskey spirits (Baby Bourbon, corn whiskey, rye, etc.) paired with pulled pork on cheddar biscuits and hickory-smoked Black Angus tri-tip sandwiches. BBQ or Bruce Willis. Tough call.

Sep 24, 7-9:30pm, $100, Brix Wine Shop, 105 Broad St, tickets at 617-542-2749, ext 2
