Ever since Sip Wine Bar opened in the Theatre District, you’ve said two things: “Mmm... wine” and “I wish they were open for lunch.” And just like that, now they are. Which means it’s now possible to get midday miso-glazed salmon and mushroom flatbreads. Mushrooms = fiery conference calls.
This is historic: Ball and Buck is holding their first massive sale and slashing 30% to 70% off everything in store, from denim to long underwear. The reason: they’re closing the North End locale and full-timing it in the Back Bay. Try not to cry at the checkout counter.
A good Saturday: sampling a few glasses of your favorite whisky. A better Saturday: sampling over 170 of them at Whisky Live, the UK/Japanese event gracing Boston for the first time. There’ll be big guys like Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, some smaller American cousins and even live Scottish music. Kilts optional.
So here’s the deal: you’ll go to this out-of-sequence four-course dinner at Alden Castle, the first public event ever held there. Then the following Thursday, you’ll go see the new time-travel movie Looper on Boston Common. Think of it as dinner and a movie. Over four days. With Bruce Willis.
Also on Monday: there’s a five-course bourbon and BBQ dinner happening at Brix Wine Shop, featuring five Hudson Whiskey spirits (Baby Bourbon, corn whiskey, rye, etc.) paired with pulled pork on cheddar biscuits and hickory-smoked Black Angus tri-tip sandwiches. BBQ or Bruce Willis. Tough call.
