Varano's Famous Deli Opens

With vintage newspapers covering the walls and a pressed-tin ceiling, the team behind Strega Restaurant wanted Bostonians to have what NYC denizens take for granted—a classic, killer deli. A street-side take-out window allows for easy access, though the roast beef is made in-house, so you may want to inhale the aromas and your sandwich inside.

Now open, 66 Cross St (between Hanover and Salem), 617-319-0050, menu here

José McIntyre's Block Party
RAIN DELAY

José McIntyre's Block Party

If you felt wronged by the blustery rain June bestowed upon us, you're not alone. José McIntyre's Block Party ignites from 5-7pm today, making sure Boston remembers why it's the biggest street party of the season and normally kicks off the summer…it's just a few weeks late this year.

$10 door, 5pm, July 16, José McIntyre's, 160 Milk St (at India), 617-451-9460

Summer Clambake on Spectacle Island
CLAM UP

Summer Clambake on Spectacle Island

Head to Long Wharf North tonight if you feel like embracing the fine coastal air, ocean views of the setting sun and devouring more mollusks than you'd care to admit. With steamed lobster, chorizo and chowder as part of the deal, the only way you'll go hungry is by not going.

$75, departs Long Wharf North at 6:30pm, 617-223-8040, tickets here

Friday
Umbria's Grand Opening White Party
PRIME SEATING

Umbria's Grand Opening White Party

To celebrate its grand (re)opening, the slick new nightclub Umbria is throwing a white-themed bash. There'll be gratis Stoli cocktails being passed around liberally, and since it's pre-Labor Day, all that white won't look silly on everyone.

$10 suggested, 9:30pm, July 17, Umbria Prime, 295 Franklin St, 617-338-1000

Saturday
Blu Saturdays at the Ritz
FEELING BLU

Blu Saturdays at the Ritz

The launch of Blu Saturdays at the Ritz features a few of your favorite party ingredients: free vodka cocktails (9-10pm), gazelle-like women showcasing the latest in tight denim (10-11pm) and, of course, a live percussionist on the Afro-Brazilian drums. We imagine you'll also want to check out the rooftop patio, which is open all night.

$15, 9pm-2am, July 18, Blu, 4 Avery St, tickets here

Questlove DJs at Revolution Rock Bar
SEE QUEST

Questlove DJs at Revolution Rock Bar

Just because he's been moonlighting as the anchor for Jimmy Fallon's house band doesn't mean the preeminent hip-hop drummer of our time will stop doing what he loves—namely, spinning music for you. In a rare Hub stop for the afro'ed one, he heads to Revolution Rock Bar to make nice-nice with Boston. You should too.
