There are bacon events and there are bacon events. Next Sunday’s Bacon Takedown is the latter and tickets are now on sale. It’s basically a food and wine festival where all the items contain bacon—everything from bacon hash to bacon taffy. Also: plain bacon.
Now that the Urban Grape has successfully turned one, they’ve decided to celebrate by offering you free rum. (That works.) For three hours on Friday, you’ll sip cocktails made with Brugal rum and take 20% off all cases of wine. Your presence can be your gift to them.
So as not to jinx the Bruins, you’ll want to watch Friday’s game in a pristine locale. Met Back Bay is opening their private town house, showing the game on a huge projection screen and serving you Wellfleet oysters and Killer Bees (butterscotch vanilla vodka, honey and lemon). No biting.
10am on Sundays for most people: getting over Saturday night. 10am for you this Sunday: the start of a five-hour extravaganza where local dealers will be hawking vintage furniture, clothes and cocktail shakers. There will also be a full bar. No, 11am isn’t too early for gin.
Normally, the Butcher Shop only serves their mouthwatering dry-aged beef burgers at lunch. And normally, they just have bottles, cans and not much on draft. That all goes out the window Sunday and Monday nights, starting now. They’ll have the burgers, plus drafts of constantly changing local ale like Rapscallion.
