The weekend makes the most alluring Santa.

Good news: a new wine, cheese and specialty-meat emporium has opened. (Think fresh-sliced, imported Serrano ham from Spain.) More good news: from 4 to 7pm tonight they’ll be pairing gratis wine with gratis cheeses to shake off the workday dust. Still more good news: they’ll be doing the same thing every Monday through Saturday.
It’s that time again. Time to sport your most horrific, headache-inducing sweater in public on a regular basis. Start tomorrow at Bleacher Bar’s ugly sweater party. A portion of the door goes to charity, while you do your best Bill Cosby-meets-Clark Griswold bar persona.
Somerville’s bastion of wood-fired pies and tapped wine is getting into the brunch game. Which means the days of being without pizza topped with three eggs, home fries, applewood bacon and cheese for breakfast are over. We’re not saying pizza is the new omelet, but we’re not saying it isn’t, either.
Hell’s Kitchen runner-up Jason Santos took a long look at red velvet cupcakes, and in an inspired moment said to himself, “Pancakes.” Thus, Red Velvet Pancakes, coming your way starting this Sunday in Somerville. Next up: coconut lime french toast.
It starts with several hundred skiers and boarders dressed as Santa. They take a collective run, and then you watch as they spread out across the mountain. Around 3pm, you all convene in the Foggy Goggle pub for some live reggae. For some reason, it had to be reggae.
