Also: gear for the impending season between seasons with half off Steven Alan’s pre-fall collection. Finally, a weeklong membership and personal training session at Crunch, on the house. Because you only like to sweat in the presence of a live DJ.
The Baseball Tavern is throwing a drag party. In between plates of free Buffalo wings and sliders, they’ll be awarding a pair of tickets to the best “dude looks like a lady” for Saturday’s sold-out Aerosmith show at Fenway. And just to ramp up the ridiculous quotient, they’ll also be holding an air-guitar contest. Bonus points for doing “Walk This Way” in heels…
If you’ve ever been partying in Royale, looked around and said, “This place needs more acrobats,” someone was clearly listening. Saturday is your chance to revel with the cast of Cirque du Soleil while some of the company’s acrobats and jugglers (and possibly some carnie folk) perform onstage. (Think Big Top Pee-wee, in a club.) Give our best to the contortionists…
You love a good wine tasting. Also: a good champagne, whiskey, vodka and gin tasting. And it’s better when such a tasting goes down all day, like the one starting at 9:30am on Saturday at the Urban Grape, featuring high-end wines, champagne and all manner of liquor, including bourbon. See, bourbon really can be for breakfast.
Some nights you just crave a heaping order of Chinese takeout. Sunday is one such night. So you’ll be pleased to hear that Ginger Park is now offering their fresh-ingredients take on classic Chinese takeout like General Tso’s Chicken, BBQ Pork Spare Ribs and Shaking Beef Moo Shoo. Yes, everything will come in those little containers for leftovers.
Good news: local beef purveyors b.Good are throwing a little outdoor BBQ on Sunday. And by little, we mean that $15 gets you an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of burgers, hot dogs, shakes and ice cream. Plus, Ipswich beer brewer Clown Shoes will be doling out $4 brews. And there will be live rock bands—because nothing screams rock and roll like milkshakes.
