Occasionally, you just generally feel anti.
Anti-pretense. Anti-fuss. Anti-everything...except beer, wine and free pizza.
In this spirit, we humbly present Melgard Public House, bringing just that to Melrose Avenue—set to soft-open this Saturday.
A kindred spirit (and sibling) of Third Stop, 1739 Public House and Agave, Melgard will sling pastries and croissants at brunch, and pizza and burgers until 1am. They've got 28 beers on tap, and if things are really off the rails for you, there's Schlitz and PBR in a can.
And though you might find it hard to believe that this location could improve on the long-esteemed Louise's Trattoria it replaced, happy hour here means you get a gratis cheese pizza with your already cheap pint. Down it all inside if you want to catch the game, but you'll probably prefer the secluded garden patio at the entrance—one of the few on Melrose—once it's done in a couple weeks.
Even the name is anti-subtle: it's at Mel(rose) and Gard(ner).
We hear Bar With Free Pizza was a close second.
