This year is going to be big.
So big it will make 2009 look like 1977. But in order to get things started off right, you'll need to fortify.
With burgers. Maybe some pork belly. And black truffles.
Say hello to Bliss, your new burger heaven, now open in South Beach.
Upon entering the South of Fifth spot, you'll realize that the owners have taken over the old Cafe Maurice space and transformed all that kitschy Frenchness into a temple of beefdom. Grab a seat by one of the big windows overlooking Washington and prepare to delve into a menu that unites two of your favorite things: beer and burgers. The menu offers pairing suggestions for each of their nine bunned monstrosities, and thus begins one of the hardest decisions of the new year.
For the Twenty Six (26-hour slow-braised beef short rib, with crispy Tabasco onions and smoked tomato relish), they suggest a caramel-colored Bells Amber Ale to complement the richness of the beef. But if you go for the Little Piggy (confit of pork belly, with a fried egg and Swiss cheese on a Parmesan bun), you'll want the raspberry-tinged Abita Purple Haze along with it.
If you're still hungry, Bliss will also be dishing out Bacon Fingers, which are like chicken fingers, only bacon, and which can be dipped in maple syrup.
We recommend pairing it with a 10k run.
