You weren't looking for a reason to subject yourself to Brickell's gruesome all-the-time traffic.
But now you have one.
And you'll return with no regrets.
To Obra Kitchen Table, an authentic Venezuelan restaurant (soft opening May 21) from chef Carlos García, of the award-winning Alto in Caracas. See the slideshow.
You'll head here with a date, wowing them with views of a gloriously open kitchen beyond a sea of aqua subway tiles, white oak floors and other details strategically placed there by the designer behind Juvia.
Pause a moment at the bar, assuming a stool or a not-at-all-weird stance. Go ahead now, order something. Yes, like the Criollo, a traditional Venezuelan concoction with rum, cold brew coffee, cacao and passion fruit puree. You've really got the hang of this.
Now allow yourselves to be whisked away to a table for such delights as roasted clams with corn courtbouillon and pico de gallo. Or grilled rice with squid and artichokes. With a required dip for the whole table into some juicy pork pernil.
And for now, you'll savor these things inside. Then later this summer, they'll open an outdoor space here.
So you can savor under the stars.
