’SEI WHAT

Small Plates and Sake at Shinsei

Something’s afoot at Shinsei. For starters, the upstairs lounge got an upgrade. Now it’s called the Sakaya Room. It’s nice. And it’s turning into an izakaya each weeknight, so go there after work for Japanese beers, good sake and gratis small plates. With food on them.

Mon-Fri starting May 8, 5-6:30pm, The Sakaya Room at Shinsei, 7713 Inwood Rd, 214-352-0005

Saturday
Beer Donuts
GLAZING A TRAIL

Beer Donuts

Donuts: good. Beer: good. Donuts made with beer... we’re feeling optimistic. So try the new guy at Glazed Donut Works. It’s a chocolate donut loaded with pecans and coconut, and it’s made with Four Corners’ Soul Child Brown Ale. It’s quite the balanced breakfast.

Sunday
Brunching on Food Trucks and Punch
PUNCH DRUNK

Brunching on Food Trucks and Punch

There’s a new brunch in town. It starts this Sunday at Truck Yard. You can expect food trucks serving midmorning fare like chicken and waffles. Hypnotic Donuts will be there. And for drinks, they’re doing large bowls of punch. This is shaping up to be the best Mother’s Day yet.

Sundays, 10am-2pm, Truck Yard, 5624 Sears St, 469-500-0139

Monday
Taqueria La Ventana Goes to Addison
GOOD TACOING WITH YOU

Taqueria La Ventana Goes to Addison

Taqueria La Ventana is opening a new location with a few changes. Here’s a big one: indoor seating. So that bodes well for elements-free consumption of suadero tacos, elotes and margaritas. Sometimes it gets hot here.
