Once upon a time there was a daily deals site that thought opening a bar on F Street was a good idea.
And it was. Until it wasn’t.
Still, shame to let a good bar lie fallow like that.
Here then is Brick & Mortar, a permanent bar in the basement of the new rotating pop-up space called Prequel. It’s open now.
There’s a lot going on here, so let’s answer some questions you might have:
So this is the old Living Social space?
Yes.
So I don’t need a coupon or anything to get in?
No, just show up. Maybe bring a date. Find this bar in back, down a dark staircase. You’ll see brick archways, high-tops and a long granite bar. (Slideshow here.)
What’s there to drink?
A lineup of cocktails with stuff like chicory-infused rye, coriander syrup and rhubarb shrub.
How about just a beer?
Fine. They’ve picked good ones, like Green Peppercorn Tripel from the Brewer’s Art in Baltimore.
Food?
They have a small menu with BLTs and lobster rolls. Or just see what pop-ups are... popping on other floors. (Right now, it’s just Bluebird Bakery.)
Have they got sherry?
Yes.
And that’s a weird question.
