Listen, we have a good thing going here. But even the best of relationships need a change in scenery. So let’s do that. Okay, great.

...

Allow us to suggest Amara Cay Resort, a reimagined waterside retreat in Islamorada that’s rife with rum, jet skis and quality hot-tubbing, now open.

Here’s how it’s accomplishing everything on your getaway’s checklist.

You want a seaside retreat. This was once a Hampton Inn. But relax—they’ve gutted the whole thing and now it’s got a New-England-cottage-meets-the-Caribbean vibe. With rattan swings hanging in the lobby, mason jar chandeliers and balconies in every room. (See the slideshow.)

You just want to relax. That’s what the 36 rums at Sparrows Rum Bar are for. All pair nicely with the tiki-covered hot tub.

You want seafood. The Italian joint, Oltremare, uses locally caught stuff. Grilled octopus. Roasted snapper. Tempura key lime pie. That last one isn’t seafood, but come on.

You want to be one with nature. Preferably on a jet ski. You can do that at the dive shop. You’ll head out on the water for two hours to rendezvous with dolphins and crocs.

Crocs love a good rendezvousing.
