All in all, it’s been a pretty good year. Sure, there were a few questionable bumps on the road to 2015. But no use in complaining. Instead, we’re going to reminisce. About some of the inglorious/hilarious moments the year left us with. Keep doing you, 2014.

JANUARY 8

Beyoncé Hijacks a Karaoke Party

You’re no stranger to a well-timed nap. Neither is the young lady who took one at a karaoke party at Sing Sing this year. Beyoncé chose that moment to stroll into the celebration and join the young lady’s friends for a rendition of “Party” while she, uh, rested. “Friends” is totally subjective here.

Quarter Pounders Storm the Runway

You can’t go five steps in this town without walking into some sort of fashion show. Case in point: this opening-day spectacle at the recently renovated McDonald’s on Lincoln Road featuring models in McChicken wrappers and nugget boxes. Pass the pleated fries.

JUNE 22

$100,000 Worth of Bad Decision Making

In late June, Floyd Mayweather entered E11even carrying $100,000 in a backpack. He then proceeded to make that $100,000 hail upon some clothing-impaired females. Which is what one does when presented with $100,000 in a backpack. And when one’s name is Floyd Mayweather.

SEPTEMBER 24

The Dolphins Are Cursed. No, Really.

In 1972, the Dolphins completed a perfect season while playing in the Orange Bowl. Then they were moved to Joe Robbie. Which became Sun Life. Which was then revealed to be Tequesta Indian burial grounds in the national media this year. Which explains just about everything to everyone. The end.

OCTOBER 25

Tobacco Road Reopens. On a Boat.

Retirement. We’ll all get there one day. And after 102 years, Tobacco Road decided to cash in its pension... and book a one-way ticket on the Norwegian Escape. Don’t worry—it’s totally killing it on the mah-jongg circuit.
