Savannah. Charleston. St. Simons Island.
The great thing about them: they’re all just a stone’s throw away.
Assuming you can throw a stone 300 miles...
If not, there’s always Common Quarter, a nautical new there-may-as-well-be-sand-between-your-toes restaurant from the Muss & Turner’s and Local Three guys, opening Tuesday in (stay with us) Marietta.
Right. So it’s in an OTP shopping center. But you’re good. It’s okay if you want to go out there and surround yourself with Charleston-style storm shutters and Savannah-style gas lamps and a giant backlit map of St. Simons Island and oysters and wild Georgia shrimp.
Because those things are super.
And you like super things.
Step inside. Bank right toward the Italian-marble bar. Do the crawfish rolls thing. That’s where you eat the crawfish equivalent of a lobster roll. Then ask if you can do the Chatham Artillery Punch thing that night. That’s where you’d drink a centuries-old Savannah-based cocktail with things like gin, rum, whiskey and gunpowder in it. (“Gunpowder.” Spices they like to call “gunpowder.” Same thing.)
Oh, and about when it gets cold out. That’s when you’ll have your oysters and Westbrook IPA drafts brought out to the covered patio. You’ll be the one in a rocking chair by the stone fireplace.
We probably should’ve led with that.
