PORK IN THE ROAD

The New Cuban Truck in Town

The West Dallas trailer park just got bigger. Well, not in size.  But in variety. Because the newest occupant is Oye Chico. And this truck is serving Cuban sandwiches, pork-stuffed empanadas and other things that make a fine lunch. Probably not too shabby a dinner, either.

Now open, Oye Chico, 400 W Commerce St

Tacos with a Side of $2 Margaritas
TWO LEGIT

Tacos with a Side of $2 Margaritas

You know Velvet Taco. Flank steak. Street corn. Open late. Right. But what you might not know is they’re serving $2 margaritas on Thursdays. From midnight until 2am. And that’s a good reason to sit and stay awhile. From, say, midnight until 2am.

Thursdays, midnight-2am, Velvet Taco, 3012 N Henderson Ave, 214-823-8358

A Show You Probably Shouldn’t Miss
PROPHET SHARING

A Show You Probably Shouldn’t Miss

There’s a roving concert series coming to town. Starts tomorrow at the Prophet Bar with a free show. Erykah Badu will be there. Same with Larry Gee. They’ll be making music on stage while you just kind of stand around, sip your beer and hang out. Everyone’s got a part to play.

Sunday
Wine and Seafood and Nothing Else
SHELL ALL

Wine and Seafood and Nothing Else

Seafood and wine... makes for a nice dinner. The kind you can eat this Sunday at Veritas, when TJ’s goes about making you a four-course feast. Think scallops, ceviche and a bunch of wines that’ll go nicely with scallops and ceviche. Probably not Franzia.

Monday
A Chocolate Shop. With Panini.
CHOCOLATE REIGN

A Chocolate Shop. With Panini.

Chocolate Secrets has the chocolate/wine/ice cream market cornered. So it was only a matter of time before they took on lunch. Of course. Anyway, in this case, they’ve gone the panini/salad route. And they start serving on Monday. You’d hate to miss opening day.
