After a long, quiet winter, the Billy Reid Southern Socials are back. (Whew.) What’s in store: live music from J. Charles & the Trainrobbers, a bunch of bourbon cocktails, plates of fried chicken and other examples of Southern supremacy/grounds for immediate action.
You’ve done many things at Double Wide. Seen shows, drank beers, consumed Yoo-hoo cocktails. But you’ve never eaten a grilled cheese sandwich there. Tonight, that changes. Because the bar’s new food stand is doling them out. Also, Frito pies and bologna sandwiches. Those ought to come in handy around midnight.
So, Tim Love... busy guy. Lots of restaurants. And now, one more. It’s called Queenie’s Steakhouse, and it opens tonight in Denton. Inside you’ll find wood-slatted walls, two patios, a menu full of beef (seriously, so much beef) and chicken-fried lobster. We could see you liking that.
There’s a big Texas beer fest happening this weekend. You may know it. Called the Big Texas Beer Fest. Anyway, you’ll want to check it out. Just stop by Fair Park, and everywhere you look: beer. Four hundred of them from 100 different breweries. Don’t feel like you need to try them all.
There’s just something about brunch. The bacon, the mimosas, the sweet relief from prior sins... It’s a marvelous thing. And hey, Belly & Trumpet’s launching theirs on Sunday. They’ll have bacon, of course. Eggs, sure. French toast, definitely. Oh, and hanger steak lying atop a kimchi omelet. Didn’t see that one coming, did you...
