Breaking news: Miami and New England have agreed to a trade.
New England gets: nothing.
Miami gets: Brady.
Just kidding, we didn’t get Brady.
We got something better.
A sizable portion of their lobster roll surplus.
Behold The Hoxton, a two-level bungalow that’s half Miami, half Nantucket and a whole lotta shellfish, now soft-open in Brickell.
You’ll find this place in the old Lucky Clover spot, but... it’s nothing like Lucky Clover. (Your kilt needed a break, anyway.) Now it’s an ode to spiked lemonade, dock-fresh seafood and long summer days by the beach. Think more Cape Cod, less Ocean Drive: white wood walls, striped canvas couches and wicker ottomans for holding your Dominican Mule (of the rum, strawberries and ginger beer variety).
After-work cocktails. That’s the gig here. Round up some office folk and gather at the rectangular wooden bar for a few Hoxton Lemonades (yes, those have vodka). And when the itch for sustenance hits, order up a top-split brioche roll brimming with celery-salted Maine lobster salad. Or Swan’s Island mussels with bacon. (Good luck making that decision.)
But say you’ve stopped in with a date. And you’re looking for something... secluded. Well, head toward the back. There’s a tucked-away nook with a solitary, cushy, hanging rattan chair there.
In Martha’s Vineyard, they call that a corner booth.
