We’ve got to hand it to Silicon Valley.
They’ve dreamed up some winners over the years...
Semiconductors. Tesla Roadsters. The iPhone. Your next burger...
Welcome SliderBar, a decidedly low-tech joint out of Palo Alto that’s devoted to, well, sliders and beer, now soft-open in the Castro.
This place is in the old Criolla Kitchen, but you may not recognize it. There’s a new long bar; a bank of five flat-screens; all kinds of reclaimed Oregon barn wood; and wine and beer on tap. Correction: a silly amount of beer on tap. Sixteen draft lines, to be exact. (Oh, and the consultant on the beer: a cicerone who works at the Jug Shop. So... your beer has cred.)
So you pretty much know when you’re coming here: when you and some fellow carnivores require beer and protein. Take over the banquette at the tip of the restaurant—it’s surrounded by windows for the best vantage point. The 16 sliders come solo, double, triple or by the half-dozen. Mix and match the likes of the Kobe/truffle aioli D-Lux, the double patty/double cheese Double Trouble or the lamb/feta Club Med.
Beer-wise, you’ve got everything from Belgians like Delirium Tremens to locals like Anchor Liberty Ale to beer cocktails and beer ice cream floats.
Like we said: lots of beer.
