The Weekender

Beer, Bikes and Lots of Tacos

There is no “I” in weekend.

THE HUNT

Possibly the Next Great Taco Spot

You’re always looking, searching, hunting for that perfect someone. Correction: perfect taco. Even if it takes you to North Dallas. Here, you’ll feast on brisket tacos drowning in BBQ sauce or Game Day tacos made with fried chicken and buffalo sauce. Get one for the drive back.

TOSS UP

A New Pizza Joint off Preston

Speaking of North Texas—if you happen to have a bottle of wine on hand (and you always do), head to this BYOB spot. It’s a simple Neapolitan-style pizza kitchen, serving up things like a Mediterranean pie topped with pineapple. Bring your corkscrew to be safe.

Beer and Burgers by the AAC
PREGAME

Beer and Burgers by the AAC

The place: Victory Park. The scene: 14 minutes until tip-off. Your stomach: growling. That’s when you’ll head to Shooters, a patio bar that’s 35 Dirk steps (approximately) from the AAC. Your move: the jalapeño burger and a Shiner on draft. Cuban hates it when you’re late.

Now open, Shooters, 3030 Olive St, Ste 105, 972-354-1155

A Taco Tour of Dallas. On Bike.
TACO RUN

A Taco Tour of Dallas. On Bike.

The annoying thing about the Tour de France—no taco stands. So Sunday, you’ll join roughly 30 cyclists and pedal 20 miles across the city, stopping everywhere from Rusty Taco to the Taco Joint for a bite. Your reward: a pint at a Deep Ellum watering hole. A yellow shirt would be too predictable.
