Not that you needed to be reminded that our city has some amazing beaches, but... Miami has some amazing
beaches.
And you appreciate this. You enjoy this. But you’d probably enjoy it a bit more with a few Mexican beers and pork tacos nearby...
For those days when only a post-swim burrito and michelada will do, there’s Lucy’s Cantina Royale, a lemon-accented taco shanty now open at the Shelborne on South Beach.
An offshoot of a similarly named New York cantina, this Baja-style shrine to guacamole and tequila is literally steps from the beach. And unlike most hotels on this strip, the Shelborne is open to everyone, and there are no tall hedges blocking ocean views—making this an ideal spot to while away a Sunday afternoon after an exhausting morning of sunscreen-applying/bikini-inspectoring.
After easing out of your day with a Paloma (tequila, grapefruit and elderflower) at the teak banquette, you’ll probably be ready for some ají panca pork tacos and grilled corn on the cob dusted with chili powder.
And we should probably mention the vibe here is a bit freewheeling, with female servers dressed in yellow bikinis and sarongs, and most tables filled with tanned nacho-lovers wearing pretty much the same.
Let us know if that’s going to be a problem.
