Things to do for November 03, 2011
The Weekender
The New Carside Burger Service in Town
The weekend’s mustache is coming in quite nicely.
Thursday
Lobster and Sashimi by the Galleria
Lobster. Sashimi. Wine. The scene: North Dallas. That’s where you’ll find the new and shiny seafood house, Aquadora. Here you’ll saddle up at their tapas and raw bar for sashimi, or sip wine next to a digital aquarium. Okay, it’s just a flat-screen showing an aquarium, but go with it.
Take Your Next Vegan Date Here
Dating rule #148: always have a vegan spot in your back pocket. (Also useful for working lunches with Mr. Clinton.) Enter V Spot Café, a small joint on Henderson serving veggie essentials like tempura eggplant. Your play: the portobello burger. Or “run to your car” and the taco stand down the street.
Around the World One Beer at a Time
Tonight, the members-only Tower Club is inviting you (and the public) to join them at their 48th-floor bar. Here you’ll take in views of downtown as they pour you pints from across the globe—from places as far-flung as the UK, Belgium, Germany and... Colorado.
Saturday
Sipping Wine Next to a WWII Bomber
For far too long, your wine tastings have been WWII-bomber-free. (Well, except that one time...) Anyway, this Saturday at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, you can sip Texas wines in a massive hangar. Your tasting partners include: local vineyards and fighter planes. No word on if there’ll be a danger zone.
Tuesday
Carside Service at Maple and Motor
At last: first-class burgers delivered to your car. (Our apologies to Sonic.) Here’s how it works. First, back your car into a spot at Maple and Motor. Then flash your lights (just once) and a waitress will appear. Then: burger time. Finally, a use for your dashboard ketchup pump.
