Things to do for October 27, 2011
The Weekender
Whiskey, Halloween Brunch and The Monster Squad
The weekend is never delayed by rain.
Thursday
Whiskeying It Up at Marquee Grill
The city’s finest restaurant/bar on top of a movie theater marquee is unveiling a new cocktail menu heavy on gin and brandy libations. But we’ll save you some time: get the Dire Straits (12-year-Macallan, fig and vanilla with allspice dram). Pairs well with “Sultans of Swing.”
Sipping Mojitos with a Cuban Band
Your daily mojito update: (1) Your mint leaves are coming in nicely this fall. (2) Urban Taco is pouring blueberry and mango mojitos for five bucks every Thursday, as part of a new Buena Vista night. There will also be a Cuban jazz trio on hand. No cigars, sadly.
Friday
Rappelling Down a 15-Story Hotel
Your weekend to-do list: finalize Halloween costume. Pick up dry cleaning. Rappel down a hotel. We can help—tomorrow, the 15-story InterContinental hotel is letting you create a team and rappel. (It’s for the Special Olympics—you have to bid to do it.) You’re on your own for the dry cleaning.
Saturday
The Monster Squad. Freaks. And You.
Sunday
It’s Halloween at Sunday School...
Halloween parties are so predictable: pumpkins, cobwebs, “Boo Berry Punch.” (It’s even painful to type that.) That’s why Sunday School is hosting a Halloween brunch party. You’ll be sipping champagne and eating egg white frittatas as the DJ spins. Egg whites are the new candy corn.
