Things to do for October 13, 2011
The Weekender
A Weekend of Brunch, Ducatis and Mariachi Bands
The weekend and the weekday are starring in a buddy cop flick.
Thursday
Jakes. Now on Henderson.
Ah, Jakes: the schooners, the burgers, the lifesaving fries. Now they’re opening a spot on Henderson with glass garage doors that open to a brick patio—the perfect location for beers and a Red Steer burger. It is patio season, after all.
Friday
Pedicabs, Now a Thing
This weekend you may find yourself stranded in Uptown. The cabs: MIA. Your friend: not wearing her power-walking heels. Your move: calling these guys, a few SMU students who will pedal you anywhere from the Katy Trail Ice House to the AAC. Bring cash. And maybe a portable boom box or something.
Saturday
Over 30 Ducatis. A DJ. And You.
Good news: there’s something sexy and Italian in the Design District. Bad news: it’s not Monica Bellucci. Good news: the guys from Advanced Motorsports are showing off over 30 Ducati bikes and cars and giving out prizes as a DJ serenades these rockets on wheels. Go ahead, request “Danger Zone.”
Sunday
The Return of Terilli’s Brunch
You know the old story. Italian jazz spot opens. Spot burns down. Spot reopens with a new rooftop. And then finally, spot launches brunch. Now, Terilli’s is covering that last chapter by serving up Italian Sausage Omelets and Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. Consider your Bloody the appendix.
Gratis Tequila and a Mariachi Band
Your favorite Tex-Mex spot in One Arts, Jorge’s, is celebrating its third birthday with a mariachi band, gratis tequila tastings and their own salsa team. Yes, that’s a team dedicated to bringing you different salsas. No word on if the queso squad will show up.
