Cereal as a nightcap: now we’re getting somewhere...

Behold The Sav U’R Cereal Cocktail, a delirious concoction that’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like, now adding a little Saturday-morning whimsy to your Friday-night carousing at PS 7’s.

You may have heard of a certain New York restaurant serving cereal milk in ice cream form. That’s the inspiration here. But we’re happy to report it’s been put to even better use. A boozy use, if you will.

Like many good things, this required some patience. Enough patience for your bartender to taste-test 26 different cereals that could be cooked down in milk as a cocktail base. The winner: Crunch Berries. (We hear Count Chocula was DQed on account of being a teetotaler.)

As for you, you’ll wander in late at night (possibly wearing PJs), seeking a bit of a sugar rush with your libation. That’s when you’ll get a double shot of the Cap’n milk, coupled with Old Overholt rye whiskey and a Caribbean rum-based liqueur called St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram. The result: a milky white brew, served in a martini glass, earthy and spicy at first, and with a hint of childhood on the finish.

Though not if you’re lactose intolerant.
