Going to be a nice night tonight. Perfect for a breezy rooftop somewhere.
Or... the exact opposite of that.
Because here’s Soundcheck, a subterranean nightspot where the DJs (and the sound) come first, opening tonight on K Street from the guys behind Echostage.
You may have heard some buzz about this place. But have a look inside right here. Then, read about it below.
It looks like a nightclub. LED screens, floor-to-ceiling columns of light and a purple VIP room will do that.
But... it’s as much a live music venue, with name DJs rolling through and tickets sold ahead of time. Expect bass on Wednesdays, EDM on Thursdays, Latin on Fridays, hip-hop on Saturdays and deep house on Sundays.
Yes, it’s loud, thanks to banks of high-tech German speakers.
But... it’s also crystal clear, thanks to cork flooring, soundproof foam and the kind of acoustic tiles you’d see in a recording studio.
Of course, you can get bottle service if you book one of the 14 tables.
But... you can just hang out on the nearly 2,000-square-foot dance floor, and find a surprisingly strong selection of local beer when you need a break.
IPAs. The new club drink of choice.
