Praise Be, Planters Has Brought Back Cheez Balls

Our National Nightmare Is Over

It is easy to feel discouraged over the dozens of online petitions that pile up in your inbox. Do they actually bring about change? Is signing my name really furthering the cause of just making me feel better about myself? Well, I can’t speak for all online petitions, and am not holding my breath to get my money back from Jill Stein, but there’s one recent success story. After loyal cheese puff enthusiasts unionized and made their voices heard, Planters is bringing back their beloved Cheez Balls.

The snack had been discontinued in 2006, so it’s been over a decade since superfans could coat their fingers in a thick orange dust other cheese-adjacent foods couldn’t quite replicate. Planters is also bringing back Cheez Curls, the same snack but in a different, longer shape.

We must cling to the small victories. We made our voice heard and did not back down until our demands were met. Now, ten year olds who were innocently born into a world where they couldn't slice their hands on metal canisters as they stuffed cheez balls into their mouth while playing Sonic video games are no longer suffering. They can now know the joy of the cheez ball.

The resurgence is limited however, so stock up while you can. I have a funny feeling that these artificially flavored corn puffs have a sturdy shelf life.
