Beam Distilling Just Launched Its First Single Barrel Program for Consumers

It's Your Chance to Score a Unique Barrel All for Yourself. Or Maybe to Share with Friends.

None

Jacob Beam started selling whiskey in 1795.

And throughout those nearly 230 years, the James B. Beam Distilling Co. has produced millions of barrels of whiskey.

But January 2025 will be the first time in the company's history that consumers can select their own private barrel at the Clermont, Kentucky distillery.

So, clear some room in your schedule, and start the year out right. With a barrel of whiskey.

The Beam Private Barrel Club is launching with Knob Creek bourbon and rye. Members will have the opportunity to head deep into the rackhouses at the distillery, sampling various barrels and exploring how they are shaped by their location within the rackhouse, environmental factors and individual barrel characteristics — all things that influence flavor over time.

Start by joining the club via that link above. It's open to individuals, but also to friend groups, families and whiskey clubs, just in case you don't want to drink a barrel of whiskey all by yourself. Then consult the calendar and request a booking.

On the day of your experience, you and up to seven others will get a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility, followed by a trip to the rackhouse to taste a selection of single barrel bourbons or ryes. After the tasting, guests will select their favorite barrel, which will be set aside and eventually bottled. You'll adjourn for lunch, and then go on your way, knowing that your whiskey's in good hands.

Bottling takes a few months after barrel selection, and the final cost is based on bottle yield, with the typical barrel holding between 100 and 175 bottles. Each will feature a personalized label, which is the perfect touch when giving these out as gifts, issuing to club members, or stocking your home bar.

Just remember to pace yourself.
