Oh, how your taco consumption has evolved.
First, it was tacos and tequila.
Then, tacos, tequila and guac.
And now, with the opening of Diez y Seis at the Shore Club today, you'll be having those tacos and that tequila and guac with a poolside view. And a roving mezcal cart, of course. Check it out.
This latest Mexican spot to land in Miami Beach is named after Mexico's Independence Day on September 16. And it's from the chef behind Leynia at the Delano. All talking points you'll wow your date with as you walk into the old Terrazza space turned rustic-meets-modern taqueria.
Note the South Beach pastel-hued twist on traditional Mexican decor, right down to the mosaic tiles. Also note the aromas of grilled meats and veggies wafting through the air.
You'll either head to the indoor bar's long marble counter, or continue on to one of the patio tables overlooking the pool and wait for the bar to come to you. By way of custom tequila and mezcal carts, of course, which round the tables offering drinks like the Los Vatos with mezcal, passion fruit and a mint-salt rim prepared and served tableside.
Drink needs fulfilled, you'll then get to fulfilling your other needs via El Chompiras Guacamole with poached Maine lobster, Key lime and dragon fruit. Maybe steer your date in the direction of the tuna tartare with lime aioli so you can score a bite.
We mentioned the pool and the mezcal cart, right?
