These Donuts Are Not Like Other Donuts

And May Even Be Good For You

It's National Donut Day this Friday. Which you knew, of course.

But before you go tearing through the streets scarfing down so many glazed rings of fried dough, consider these new donuts from Edible Arrangements. In fact, you can stop by one of their stores and get one at no cost on June 1.

These aren't typical donuts. They're thick-cut, fresh slices of Granny Smith apples, dipped in gourmet dark chocolate and topped with stuff like coconut shavings, colored chocolate glaze, caramelized hazlenut crunch and almonds.

So they look like donuts. And feel like donuts in the hand. And more of less work like donuts, but the effect is more like that of a chocolate-covered strawberry, the crisp shell crunching into a burst of slightly acidic, semi-sweet juice from the never-frozen apples. They may even be good for you.

If you want to try one, find the nearest Edible Arrangements location and be there this Friday. If you want to bring a box to the office and make everyone wonder why you're eating so many donuts and never getting fat, they're currently available by the dozen and half-dozen through in-store pick-up and also through the online store.
