This might come off a little weird at first, but hang with us for a second.
Ready?
Burritos, tacos and margaritas.
So weird.
But if any place has a chance of making it work, it's 222 Taco, a new North Bay Village place to indulge in all of the above, plus some other usual suspects like chilaquiles and smiling a lot. It's open now. Here's the slideshow.
The glowing, peach-and-turquoise neon sign will tip you and your group off that you've arrived. So will the presence of the margarita bar (because there's a margarita bar), with its magical array of tequilas and mezcals proudly displayed.
Definitely check out one of their more unique elixirs, too, like the Mamarita, the owner's signature margarita with wine (instead of tequila), elderflower liqueur, passionfruit and lime agave.
Eventually, you'll head to the counter to order the California burrito stuffed with steak and fries. Things on fries seems to be a trend here, as evidenced by the carne asada fries with guac sauce. There's also the Nacho Friends, which are essentially nachos with the option of fries instead of chips. "Option" can be a funny word sometimes.
Since you're with a group, we see you at one of the communal tables after swinging by the salsa bar. You don't need to stay as long as you'd like, laughing uncontrollably and doing that thing where the music and the tequila and the general friend-vibes make you really fulfilled and happy—but it's highly recommended.
Closely related to the aforementioned scenario: they have all-day breakfast, so feel free to come back the next morning for some huevos rancheros.
And general wound-licking.
