Tequila is everywhere these days, making it hard for a good agave distillate to really stand out.
Fortunately, the craft and passion of tequila makers is translating into interesting new products, rather
than, say chicken-and-waffle-flavored resposado.
Which brings us to Código 1530 Rosa, a pink-tinted tequila from a label that has earned praise from tequila aficionados. The spirit is essentially Código 1530's blanco after being rested for just one month in uncharred Napa Cabernet barrels of French white oak, giving the end product a pink tone and a slight floral flavor, that merely helps accentuate the prominent agave notes within.
The product can be sipped neat, or deployed into your margaritas and Palomas. It is currently available online for $60 through K&L Merchants. And if it proves a hot-seller, be prepared for a lot of shadier brands to age their blancos until true millennial pink is achieved.
