The World's First Artisan Cheese Subscription Box Launches Soon

Oh, Happy Day!

Next month is the last month you’ll have to suffer the injustice of not having a box of delicious artisanal cheeses delivered to your door. We swear. On Bill’s life. Bill is our intern.

Because launching October 1st is the Cheesemonger Box, which is claiming to be "the world’s first artisan cheese" subscription box. It was created by a pair of real-live cheesemongers—apparently, still an actual profession—who own a hospitable little cheese shop in Fairfield, Connecticut. It’s all very quaint and cute and a refreshing rebuke to the sometimes crushing forces of American hypercapitalism, haha, but really, though.

Anyway…

You’ll probably want to go ahead and sign up for this service, either for yourself or a friend you think deserves some cheese. You can choose the standard box, which comes with three half-pound chunks of small-batch cheese, expertly curated from across the country and Europe, or the “Select Box,” which comes with all that, plus a small-batch accompaniment, such as a small-batch jam or small-batch butter. Make no mistake: this stuff is small-batch.

Then, on the 1st of October, you’ll return home from work to find a box of cheese waiting for you. “Wow, I totally forgot I did this whole cheese thing,” you’ll say, happily scooping it up and bringing it inside. That night, you’ll unwrap it and eat all one-and-a-half pounds of cheese with nothing but your bare hands in front of the dim glow of the TV.

Or, you know, invite some friends over, drink some wine and go about eating cheese like a not-insane person.
