Four Pillars Gin has a problem. They make a delicious new gin using oranges that tastes more delicious still
in a gin and tonic using more oranges. That’s not the problem. Each time they make this gin, the
distillery finds itself stuck with a shit ton of gin-and-botanical-steamed oranges. We’re talking over six
pounds of the things per batch.
But when life gives you oranges, make boozy marmalade. These guys mixed a little bit of Campari and other ingredients with the oranges and turned the excess citrus into their Breakfast Negroni Marmalade. The result is said to hit marmalade’s bittersweet notes a little harder.
Then they went and started selling the stuff on their website for nine dollars a bottle. And since drinking Negronis in the morning is not necessarily for everyone, consider this a good way to start the day with the same flavors and possibly less regret.
The fact that you may single-handedly save the environment with this support of upcycling is just a bonus.
