This is about lunch.
Lunch that the chef from Blue Plate created.
This is about freedom.
Freedom from lunches that the chef from Blue Plate did not create.
This is about City Counter, the new lunch and happy hour spot inspired by the workaday lunch counters of yore. It’s open now and can be witnessed within the pages of this slideshow.
You’ll step in through the historic metal door and enter a bright-white, copper-accented world. You’ll order at the counter under the light of a neon sign. The vibe will be good. The vibe will be promising.
That’s probably because it’ll promise nine sandwiches like the Counter Club with herb-brined chicken breast and caper-avocado spread on focaccia. Like the Reubenesque with smoked beets, sharp cheddar and pickeled cabbage. The latter is vegetarian. Didn’t feel that way, though, did it?
Come happy hour, you’ll pair your Fort Point Villager IPA or glass of wine with snacks like salt and vinegar popcorn and artichoke dip toast.
And they’ll eventually serve breakfast, too.
It’s best to end on a breakfast note whenever possible.
