You Can Wear the Motiv Ring All The Time

Like Fitbit, But a Ring

The problem with fitness-tracking watches is just exactly how much time you don’t want to be wearing a fitness watch.

When you’re sleeping (which really takes the wind out of the sails of the sleep-tracking aspect).

When you’re wearing anything other than workout clothes.

When you don’t want to wear a watch at all.

The time adds up. But the problem’s been solved with the Motiv Ring, which does all the fitness and sleep tracking of a watch, but is, as the name implies, a discreet titanium ring. It’s available for preorder now.

Rather than simply measuring your steps (though it does that), this little guy actually keeps track of how much time, and when, you were actually in activity that’s going to make a difference for your health. It’s got a better lock on your heart rate than a watch, and you can enter (via the app) just exactly what activity you’re engaged in. The app itself allows you to set goals and challenges you to up them every week.

The size of the ring allows you to use it on a single charge for up to five days, and you’ve got a magnetic keychain USB charger for when that time’s up.

Once you place your preorder, they’ll send you a sizing kit. Right now, you’ve got the choice of slate gray or rose gold, both of which we imagine looking smashing with even your whitest of white-tie ensembles (for all that gala-jogging you’re known for).

In time, Motiv is hoping to fine tune the app so it recognizes exactly what sport or activity your doing while using the ring. The example they use is curling, which, ambitious.

You can preorder here.
