Maybe one day you'll have a live-in chef, there to make you meals and improve your daily life.

And to take up space and judge your food choices...

But until then, you can rely on the next best thing: a live-in robot chef that doesn't require a salary or even oxygen, let alone care whether you eat caviar for dinner or dino-shaped nuggets for breakfast.

Chefee is that chef. It comes from an Austin-based company that's trying to make your life a little easier, and it's available for preorder now, with units expected to start shipping at the end of the year.

Chefee can be built into your existing kitchen in a variety of finishes, or it can operate as a standalone countertop appliance. It consists of a few parts: up top, there's a pantry with compartments for dry goods and refrigerated ingredients. Down below, there's a cooking surface that consists of three stainless steel bowls heated via electric cooking element. And between all that is a robotic arm to transfer ingredients as needed.

An AI-enabled camera watches all the action to ensure accuracy, the robotic arm will add ingredients and stir, and the machine can even dispense water for things like rice, pasta or oatmeal. The contraption can make up to eight portions per bowl to feed a family, and it can also make different dishes at the same time, so you don't have to eat what everyone else is eating.

It all works with a corresponding app, where you can order groceries for delivery — there's an option to have items pre-chopped/sliced — browse through thousands of recipes, and choose what you want for your next meal. You can even tell Chefee when you want to eat, so dinner is ready when you are.

Because of the way it works, your best bets for meals are likely going to be things like stir-frys, soups, curries and other dishes that taste great mixed together, so you still might want to grill your own steak.

But think of all the free time you'd gain if the majority of your meals were handled by a personal robot chef.

For starters, you could get to work on building a personal robot bartender.
