Because now you’ve got a really good excuse to run into the cool embrace of Nanndi Frozen Cream & Pastry Shop, a simple little outfit down south churning out something that’s akin to a gelato/ice cream hybrid. It’s now open in Downtown Dadeland, and here’s the slideshow.
The chef behind this place had the crazy notion of taking the best parts of gelato and ice cream recipes and mashing them together. The end result: frozen cream. Yes, it’s magical. And yes, you’ll be hard pressed to find something exactly like it anywhere else in the city.
Inside, it’s a no-frills type of spot with the occasional comfy couch thrown in for good measure. Pop in on a day not unlike today and grab a scoop or two of salted pistachio or dark chocolate with candied oranges. Or if you’re feeling a little edgy, look to the guava and cheese or Maria cookie flavors.
Pastries and baked things. They’ve got those, too. All homemade. Double chocolate brownies. Sticky buns. Stuff that’s not frozen cream but is still delicious.
They should at least get a participation award.
