Meet number three: I Heart Mac & Cheese, a new place that makes... mac and cheese, and then lets you customize the hell out of it. It’s open now in Fort Lauderdale, and these pictures prove it.
First, we hear you. Fort Lauderdale. But the things you do for love are crazy. And sometimes you just have to drive to Fort Lauderdale for love.
The idea is simple. You’ll stroll/speed walk into this vintage-feeling spot and make your way to the counter. You’ll be given a choice of macaroni as a base (regular, whole wheat or gluten-free, if that’s your thing). Your next move: cheese. There’s 14 of them. Muenster. Gruyère. Cheddar. Then there’s the small matter of proteins and 20 toppings at your disposal, from bacon to cheese puffs to chicharrones to black truffle salt.
It’s a lot to take in.
Related: you can also opt for a pre-composed combo like the Philly Cheese Steak with short rib, white and yellow cheddar, caramelized onions and pretzels. Paired with one of the 14 beers or seven wines on tap, of course.
