You require: An enchanted garden dinner full of whimsy and romance. Aka you’ve got a date.
You’ll receive: An Alice in Wonderland dinner at Little Door or Little Next Door. With fortune-tellers, DJs, Queen of Hearts dancers and themed food. And more importantly, a chance to wear a top hat.

THE DOWNTOWN BLOWOUT

The Standard

You require: A dance party. A big dance party.
You’ll receive: DJs like Felix Da Housecat taking over all 13 floors and 207 rooms at the Standard. Here’s where we could say, “Big enough for you?” But wouldn’t. But kind of just did.

THE INEVITABLE 1920S BASH

Baltaire

You require: A close and steady supply of caviar and gin.
You’ll receive: A ’20s-themed party with live burlesque and jazz, plus carts bearing martinis and caviar. You know, Brentwood party staples.

THE BLACK-TIE POOL PARTY

Viceroy

You require: A masquerade party with people you hear on KCRW every day. Not Ira Glass.
You’ll receive: Jason Bentley and Raul Campos spinning tunes by the Viceroy’s pool. New Year’s just turned sort of eclectic-and-weird-but-still-somehow-great.

THE MORNING-AFTER BRUNCH

Viviane

You require: Some hair of the dog and a hoagie. And now.
You’ll receive: Fried-egg-and-porchetta hoagies with “San Francisco rooster shooters” involving wheatgrass, spicy tequila and OJ. Strong first impression, 2016.
