What you wish you were doing this weekend: watching the Caps and the Wizards play for championships at a new
sports bar.
What you’ll actually be doing this weekend: watching championship games at a new sports bar.
Oh well. At least you can ease your pain with deviled eggs and kimchi burgers.
Pull up a stool at MacIntyre’s, a classic-looking, sports-focused bar that just landed in the former Taste of India space in Woodley Park.
This is a long, narrow place that looks like an old-school neighborhood pub (well, scrubbed up a bit). Take a look here.
The bar dominates the room, so you might as well sit there. You’ll have a better view of the eight TVs and the 14 tap handles from this spot, too.
From there you’ll be heard saying things like:
—“I’ll try the pulled-pork burger with the kimchi on top.”
—“Hmm. Maybe LeBron really is better than Jordan.”
—“Yes, I’ll take another 12 blue-crab claws.”
—“How the hell does Tampa have a hockey team?”
Of course, there’s not always a game on. That’s what patios are for. This one’s covered, and you can get brunch there in a couple weeks.
Or you can just sit on it and drink beer.
