Keep this in mind tomorrow: there’s life after Valentine’s Day. Because first off, there’s a tiki
extravaganza on Sunday called Guerilla Drinks. Then on Wednesday, a legendary Chinese chef cooks in
the Source’s lounge. It’s called... Peter Chang at the Source. Both are one night only.
Here’s the lowdown.
Guerilla Drinks
Who’s Involved: Barmen Jason Strich (Hank’s on the Hill) and Owen Thomson (Cafe Saint-Ex). They’re recreating famed Chicago tiki bar Three Dots and a Dash for one night.
Where You’ll Be: The basement of Saint-Ex, adorned with thatched roofing, bamboo and tiki glasses flown in from Three Dots.
What You’ll Be Having: Rum drinks from tiny motor oil jugs, blue drinks in fishbowls and cocktails on tap from a treasure chest.
And This Is a Teaser For: A recurring series of bimonthly bar recreations.
Peter Chang at the Source
Who’s Involved: Well, Peter Chang (somewhat obviously), the Szechuan chef whose fans have followed him around the Southeast for a decade. Also: the Source’s chef, Scott Drewno.
Where You’ll Be: The Source’s first-floor lounge.
What You’ll Be Having: Dishes like smoked-beef dumplings and Peking duck bao. Also bottomless drafts from Atlas Brew Works.
And This Is a Teaser For: Chang’s local restaurants in the Maryland and Virginia suburbs, planned for later this year.
Maybe Metro will be fixed by then.
