Judging a book by its cover.
That’s something you generally shouldn’t do.
Like today.
Especially today.
Trust us on this.
Read between the lines of Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, a colorful taco shop that’s hiding a beautiful drinkery, now open in South Beach. (See the slideshow.)
On the outside, this looks like a cheerful little taco shop. With an Airstream trailer inside, a marquee listing daily specials, high-top tables and pork belly tacos and tortas from Bernie Matz (you might remember him from Bernie’s L.A. Café around the corner).
So go ahead and order those things. Eat them, too.
But then, we’re going to ask that you do something... weird.
Go to the bathroom. It’s the blue door that says “baños.”
Yes, really.
Because there’ll be a second door in there. And beyond that...
A massively gorgeous bar.
Now, we can’t divulge much more than that (sorry), but know that:
1. Tequila and mezcal will be present.
2. You can also access it via the meat locker door.
And to think, meat lockers used to hold meat.
