Wine Tasting Notes
Name: Cibo Wine Bar.
Vintage: 2014.
Availability: Open right now.
Region: South of Fifth, Miami Beach.
Look/Color: A sweeping palatial number with a rooftop patio sporting cedar furniture, a gurgling fountain and its own beer-and-draft-wine bar. The two-story, glass-enclosed cellar with 3,000 bottles is a nice touch. As is the woman suspended in midair by hydraulic lifts, plucking bottles off of the shelves. Think the technical term is “wine angel.” (See the slideshow here.)
Nose: Slight hint of a lasagna station wafting out of an open kitchen. Full bouquet of salumi and burrata.
Taste: Firmly Italian with a forward-tasting porcini risotto and beef short rib.
Finish: Long. Lemon-ricotta-cheesecake long.
Pairs well with: An oenophile with an interest in hydraulic lifts.
